In-Vitro (Radioimmuno Assay and Immunoradioimetric Assay)

There are two well equipped Radioimmunoassay (RIA) laboratory and Chemiluminescent immunoassay (CLIA) laboratory under the In-Vitro department of INMAS, Sylhet.

Radio-Immunoassay: Radio-immunoassays are based on high sensitivity In Vitro assay techniques to measure concentration of antigens by the use of antibodies or alternatively to detect antibodies for a specific antigen with excellent specificity.

Chemiluminescence (CLIA): It is a combination of chemiluminescence technique with immuno-chemical reactions. CLIA utilize chemical probes which could generate light emission through chemical reaction for the quantification of low concentration of analytes in complex sample.

►It is more specific than RIA and ELISA.

►It is to be mentioned that reports are currently being provided within 24 hours using the CLIA method. By introducing LIS (Laboratory Information System), the whole process of blood collection, assay running and collection of report has been automated.

Congenital hypothyroidism in newborns is also diagnosed in In Vitro division using the Dissociation Enhanced Lanthanide Fluorescence Immunoassay (DELFIA) technology-dependent Dried Blood Spot(DBS) method through the neonatal congenital disease diagnosis program (Newborn Screening).
